INSTRUCTORS

YOUR SURF INSTRUCTOR

I (Rodney Jamieson, Cheggs to friends) started surfing over 25 years ago in Lewis, it was February, I had a shot of my mates’ board, and shared a wetsuit too small for me, it was absolutely freezing and that was it, I was hooked.

My passion for surfing has since taken me on some amazing worldwide adventures including the Canaries, South America, Indonesia, Morroco, Australia and New Zealand.

I always looked forward to returning though, and the fulfillment that surfing in the Outer Hebrides has given me, coupled with a strong desire to develop a business in the community that I grew up in inspired me to set up SurfLewis in June 2009,.

I went to Cornwall and gained a British Surf Association (BSA) Surf Coach qualification and also a Beach Lifeguarding ticket. These qualifications combined with my 25 years of surfing experience give the potential student a safe, structured and fun learning environment.

Being a qualified Youth Worker with 20 years of varied experience I feel I can put these skills to good use, especially when working with young people to bring out the most of your surf lesson experience.

In what spare time I have, I am also a crew member of the local RNLI lifeboat, trained in VHF Radio, Advanced First Aid and Sea Survival Techniques.

I look forward to seeing you in the water, developing the surf school and providing fun, structured and safe surf lessons.
